Theme: Sense of Space
Word Associations: Alone, Confined, Large surrounds, Feel Trapped In a Large/Populated Environment
Idea 1
Go Somewhere Populated with Christmas things maybe somewhere at night time to get that winter but magical feel of Christmas and with a lot of joy and happiness and focus on someone who feels alone and not in the Christmas spirit. This will be showcase by the use of audio effects of them feeling trapped like they are underwater and have long distance shots with upbeat people walking around them showcasing the persons isolation from the world around them and causing the feel and the "Sense of Space"
Potential Locations For Idea 1
Sheffield Christmas Market
Fargate, Sheffield S1 2LG
Open from 10am-6pm (8pm depending on the day)
Problem is that it is based in the Sheffield Centre and has been filmed by other students so could be put off by it being used a bit already.
If I was able to film in this place I would film at Night time to showcase a more Christmas feel to task with the lights and atmosphere showing that even with all this things happening around him the central character feels trapped.
Audio Use
Audio will be done in 2 was with recorded sound effects with natural sound effects other the outside and any other sound effects associated with the location, but to create that trapped environment for the central character we will create audio effects with pre existing audio to create that feeling.

Change In Location
To make the task more interested we decided to change the location to a more unique location being Burngreave Cemetery because a place like this links to the isolation that I wanted to create in my original location with it looking like abandoned ruins. Even though, I could have created colorful shots with the Christmas market, I had more space and could get stunning shots if I timed it right with the sunlight.
Burngreave Cemetery
Burngreave St, Sheffield S3 9DN
This place was built in 1859 being one of the first cemeteries in Sheffield, so this places is a historical place to film and with it being peaceful and empty majority of the time it will help emphasize the loneliness the character feels as the camera zooms on him and the emotion he feels.
New Techniques used in Editing
Low Pass
This effect gives the impression of the character feeling trapped, like they are underwater kind of effect. It is also used to show they're alone and isolated in their own world. This effect is used on close up on the face of the main character as he struggles with his demons.
Turning Light Into Dark
Using Color Grading and Correction I was able to dramatically change a shot filmed at night time and change it into nighttime, with the road being the only thing visible showcasing the sense of space that was the main objective of the task.
Color Grading/Correction
This was used to make the footage look identical in colour and not have one look colder then the others and for the footage to look similar all the way through so it did disrupt the world the film absorbs the viewers into.
Changes To First Edit
I needed to add more sound effects to engage the viewers into the film more and not just focus on background noises and include things like birds tweeting for example.
